Flower Mound Town Council members kept their cool during Tuesday’s un-airconditioned meeting to conduct a proposed tax rate public hearing and appoint members to various boards and commissions.
There has been no public opposition to maintain the existing and proposed tax rate of $0.4497 per $100 of taxable residential value at either the first public hearing on Aug. 28 or Tuesday evening
The council members will vote on the proposed tax rate on Sept. 15.
Council members also made appointments to the Parks, Art and Library Services Board [PALS], Board of Adjustments/Oil & Gas Board, Planning and Zoning Commission and Transportation Commission.
PALS Board re-appointments include Linda Thiebaud, Denis Toth, Wayne Farley, Norma Krueger, Annette Weir, Sweety Bowman, Angie Cox, and Elizabeth Lumpkins.
Appointments to the Board of Adjustment/Oil & Gas Board include Bryan Webb, Carlos Cabre, Tina Murphy, and Amy Wallace.
Appointments to Planning and Zoning include Mike Walker, David Johnson, Brian Millichamp, Mike McCall, and Debra Cotton.
Appointments to the Transportation Commission include Steven Lyda, Doug Rice, James Robertson, Ted Beaman, and Thomas Walker
The council members also unanimously approved a site plan for a new office building to be located at 801 Enterprise Drive, in the Lakeside Business District.
CCM Design Inc. Engineer Jeff Crannell requested several variances which included a waiver for the parking lot landscape saying the office building will have an underground parking garage which will help preserve many of the native trees and allow almost one-third of the 1.7 acres to remain open green space.
"I appreciate you taking advantage of the landscape – it makes me a lot more open in giving you the variances you have requested," Mayor Pro Tem Tim Trotter said.
Council members also approved a request allowing Verizon Wireless to place telecommunication antennas on the town’s existing water tower located at 3810 Bruton Orand Road.
